With more than 100 different weapons and bits of armor, Elden Ring has a lot to offer. When it comes to shields, things are just as crazy. There are over 70 different shields in three different groups. Elden Ring’s Medium Shields is a good choice for people who want something light but still want to protect themselves from the vast majority of threats. Here is a list of Elden Ring’s best-average shields.
Shield Elden Ring C-Tier
Marred Leather Shield
Medium shields are good for most situations in battle because they have a good balance between defense and weight. The Marred Leather Shield is a shield that scales mostly with strength. Standard Shield is best at blocking and lowering damage.
The Marred Leather Shield only stops 81% of direct damage. But Elden Ring players who are more willing to take risks can use this shield as a weapon, which causes 50 points of blood loss to build up.
Since it’s so close to the door, the Marred Leather Shield is likely to be one of the first things you find in Stormveil Castle. From the Stormveil Cliffside Site of Grace, you can get it from a dead person on the wooden steps that lead up to the castle.
Black Leather Shield
Elden Ring, Black leather Shield is a medium shield. Only 88% of physical force can get through the black leather shield. It is a shield that goes mostly with strength.
From the north, you can see that this shield has gold rivets that look like the pole star. The inside is lined with fur, protecting the carrier from frost.
B-Tier
Great Turtle Shield
The Great Turtle Shield is like the Grass Crest shield from Dark Souls, but it is much less useful. Focus your energy on the shield to briefly make it harder so it can stop bigger hits.
Even though the Great Turtle Shield doesn’t actively do anything, it does help the player regain stamina faster. The same as that of the turtle neck meat. Even if you are on your back with two weapons, this action will still happen. This means that the things the Ninja Turtles build are both fun and useful.
It only stops 87% of physical damage and almost none of the damage from elements. Even though it doesn’t completely stop physical attacks, it has one very important extra effect: it restores stamina. This medium shield can be found on top of a tower south of Oridys’s Rise. You don’t have to hurt any turtles to get it.
Beastman’s Jar-Shield:
The Beastman’s Jar-Shield is a bit of a mix between a small shield and a medium shield. It isn’t too heavy, but it doesn’t block as much damage as a medium shield. Medium shields are good for most situations in battle because they have a good balance between defense and weight.
Even though it may not be as light as a Small Shield, which is good for speed and blocking, the Standard Shield is best at lowering damage and blocking.
This shield only stops 95% of physical damage, but its negation of lightning and holy damage is very good, and its boost to defense is also very good. This shield is hard to find, though. You have to do some farming to get it.
The Jar-Shield may drop from Azula Beastmen who are carrying this shield. In Crumbling Farum Azula, you can find a beastman with this shield in the room next to the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths.
Scorpion Kite Shield
Like the other Kite Shields, the Scorpion Kite Shield does a good job of blocking chemical damage and reduces physical damage by 100%. But fans of the movie Drive from 2011 might want to buy it for a Ryan Gosling-themed costume.
Blue-Gold Kite Shield
The Blue-Gold Kite Shield is a good Medium Shield. It blocks 100% of physical damage and reduces elements damage by a decent amount. It also has a good guard boost stat, but that’s about it.
A-Tier
Banished Knight’s Shield
A tall metal shield of about average size. Given to knights who had to leave their homes because of bad luck or bad behavior.
Most of these heroes were sent to the edges of the kingdom, where they had to start over with nothing but despair to keep them company.
Even though it has slightly lower numbers than the Brass Shield, the Banished Knight’s Shield is still a great choice. It blocks 100% of physical damage, has a high guard boost stat, and blocks all types of damage well.
Silver Mirrorshield
In Elden Ring, the Silver Mirrorshield is a good shield for mages and spellblades. The shield is a middle shield that mostly changes based on your Strength and Intelligence. It has a good mix between defense and weight, which makes it a good choice for most fights.
Find the Silver Mirrorshield as soon as possible if you want a high Strength or Intelligence build. It’s in the Apostate Derelict church, which is in the north of the Consecrated Snowfield.
The Silver Mirrorshield is one of the most durable items on this list. It has a physical resistance of 100% and a magic defense of 89%. The main thing that keeps it from being the best is that it has a very low guard boost. This means that stopping a hit uses up a lot of the user’s stamina.
Twinbird Kite Shield
Shield with a brightly colored twinbird on it. People say that the twinbird is the messenger of an outside god and the mother of the Deathbirds.
When your HP is low, the Twinbird Kite Shield gives you a small boost to both attack and defense. The Twinbird Kite Shield doesn’t block as much elemental damage as the ones above it, but it still stops 100% of physical damage and has a cool trick up its sleeve. When the user’s HP is low, the Twinbird Kite Shield boosts their attack and defense power, which can be very helpful.
Eclipse Crest Heater
After a recent change, this shield is now a great light-weight choice. With a weight of only 3.5, the Eclipse Crest Heater has some of the best damage reduction and guard boost for such a low hurdle to entry.
Greatshield Eclipse Crest +25When this shield is fully leveled up, it can block 100 physical damage, 72 magical damage, 57 fire damage, 51 lightning damage, 59 holy damage, and 75 guarded damage.
The Eclipse Crest Heater Shield Shield is on a stone plinth fixed to the side of a cliff southwest of the Site of Grace in the Tombsward Catacombs. You can drop down from the area above the Tombsward Catacombs to get there.
S-Tier
Brass Shield
People still think that the Brass Shield is one of the best shields in Elden Ring, along with the next shield in this tier. The Brass Shield doesn’t have anything special about it. It’s just a good choice for a medium shield in the early and middle game. It also helps that it is all gold and works with most fashion-souls tools.
Even though it weighs 7.0, it’s not the heaviest shield on this list, and the amount of damage it stops more than makes up for its weight. The Brass Shield stops 100% of physical damage and a good amount of magic, fire, and holy damage as well. Ashes of War can also be put on the Brass Shield, which makes it even more useful.
If you looked up where the Brass Shield drops, you would be glad to know that it can be found in three places. Even so, it is still very hard to get, with only a 0.8% chance of dropping. Killing Godrick Soldiers holding the shield or Raya Lucaria Soldiers just outside the Raya Lucaria Academy is the best way to farm for the drop.
Carian Knight’s Shield
The Carian Knight’s Shield is a medium shield that drops after you beat Moongrum, The Carian Knight, inside the Raya Lucaria Academy. Guard Boost is a stat on shields that controls how much stamina is used in this case.
When it is improved, the Carian Knight’s Shield is hard to beat. This shield is easier to use than most because you only need ten strength and ten agility to use it. This means that even magic builds can make the most of it.
The Carian Knight’s Shield is not only one of the best-looking Medium Shields, but it is also one of the most useful. It can stop 100% of physical damage and 71% of magic damage.
On top of that, it blocks a lot of holy damage, and its guard boost is pretty fair, so it takes less stamina to block each hit. Carried on the backs of knights who worked for the royal family of Cara. Does well when magic or holy strikes come.
Even though you don’t have to have a good shield to do well in Elden Ring, having one can make some of the hardest enemies and bosses easier to beat. Shields don’t only let you block hits that would hurt you otherwise. Many of them also let you block an enemy’s attack and leave them open for a critical hit.
