Los Angeles, CA (June 08, 2022) – Corona viruses are enveloped viruses with club shaped spikes protruding out of their surface. They can infect humans, animals, birds, fish, reptiles, and even insects. There are four types of corona viruses known to date. These include HCoV-229E, HCoV-OC43, SARS-CoV, and MERS-CoV. All these viruses have caused serious illnesses in humans. In the wake of a rise in cases of Covid-19, Sam Lee of the LA Community Hospital is requesting Californians not to ignore the pandemic safety protocols.
He has issued a press release from the la community hospital, which states:
- Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Those who are unable to wash their hands properly should use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Germs spread this way.
- Stay home if you feel sick. Scientists believe that the virus could spread through close contact between people. People who had close contact with someone who tested positive for the virus were advised to self-monitor themselves for any symptoms. If they do not show any symptoms, they should stay home until two weeks after they last showed symptoms.
- Cover your mouth and nose with a flexed elbow or tissue when sneezing or coughing. Throw used tissues in the trash immediately after using them.
- Clean frequently touched surfaces using disinfecting wipes or spray cleaners. Try using regular household cleaning products.
- Practice social distancing (at least 6 feet) from other people.
Novel corona virus (2019-nCoV) has been identified as the cause of the outbreak of pneumonia that started from Wuhan, China, in December 2019. This virus was first reported in late January 2020. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared this outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on February 11, 2020. Most of the deaths occurred in mainland China. Other countries where the virus has affected people include Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia etc.
