How to Prevent Car from Overheating?

To observe the excellent fuel economy and proper emission control, you have to maintain the proper temperature for your car. Almost all car engines run on an average temperature of 195 to 220 degrees. However, overheating may happen if your engine exceeds its standard temperature.

Engines can overheat for many reasons. In general, it’s because something’s wrong within the cooling system and heat isn’t able to escape the engine compartment. The source of the issue could include a cooling system leak, faulty radiator fan, broken water pump, or clogged coolant hose.

If you continue to drive an overheated car, you run the risk of warping your cylinder heads. This result is decreased power, misfiring, and excessive oil burning. However, cylinder heads aren’t the only things in your engine that can melt; other components like sensors, belts, and wiring are also at risk.

You can prevent your engine from overheating and keep its normal temperature. Here’s how you can improve your engine’s performance:

Make sure you check your radiator and car coolant regularly. Doing this will ensure that your car will not overheat. You are also able to determine if your vehicle has enough water and coolant. It is advisable to do this once a week and refill the water and coolant if it runs out.

Turn off the car’s air conditioning system. In this way, it can contribute to reducing the load that your engine has. You may also turn on your vehicle’s blower in full blast to remove the heat away from the car.

If you’re on the road driving and you have to rest for a while due to the long journey with your family or stop over and eat somewhere, you should pull over in shaded areas. If you are going to this place for a long time, parking outside can cause overheating to your car.

Bring extra coolant and water. An emergency can happen anywhere and anytime. If your engine is overheating, make sure to bring an extra bottle of water and coolant. Park on the side of the road and immediately fix your vehicle.

Lastly, have window tints installed. This is one of the most important things that you can do to avoid your engine from overheating. This doesn’t just decrease the amount of heat that enters your car but also protects you and your family from the harmful effects of the sun. It also makes your car look cooler.
