Friendly Home Modifications for Seniors Aging in Place

Our beloved aging seniors are at home most of the day, which is why it is a great idea to have CT home care for elders. Even though they can still go out from time to time, they are not as strong as they used to be, so they opt to stay inside and enjoy themselves in the comfort of their home. However, some houses may present a few risky places and uneven spots that can inadvertently hurt our elderly loved ones, especially if they have difficulties with their movements. It’s a good thing that we now have assistive technologies and other home improvements and modifications that we can apply to help our seniors once they decide to age-in-place.

First of all, we should be aware of the risky places in our houses. One of these places is the bathroom because it can get slippery, and some tubs are too high. Another dangerous spot can be our stairways, in which our elders usually have a hard time going up and down. Once we have located these spots, we can then make the necessary adjustments to make life easier for our elderly loved ones. A great example of this would be to install safety handles in the bathroom.

The good thing about today’s generation is our improvements in assistive technology. We can use these affordable tools to help our aging loved ones be more productive in their everyday activities. We have access to medical alert systems that can help us contact those who work in medical assistance if our independent elders ever suffer an accident or a fall. On top of all these improvements and adjustments, it is always best to hire a live-in caregiver in CT. Nothing tops the effort and help that these caregivers can provide.
